It’s perfect for your narrative structure design. Each node in your story or mission flowchart can contain an inner flowchart. For example, you can start with a top-level chapter-like structure and break it down into further and further until reaching single lines of dialogue. This nested approach ensures clean and organized flowcharts. Finally, use the simulation mode to test your flow logic before you export it. By using variables, conditions and instructions you can control the flow your game. For instance, if you want a line of dialogue only to show up when certain conditions are fulfilled.Unity IntegrationBoost your iteration process. Our comprehensive Unity plugin gets your content ready to use to Unity with just a few clicks.Game Object Databasearticy:draft includes a powerful game object database with a flexible template system. Totally enjoying learning it. Excellent management software for creating layouts of your projects. I could see this software being used to more than just a game dev device.I can't create PROS and CONS yet since i just started using it. Will update soon.I like how the devs made subscription for their software to be really cheap. I will have to cancel my subscription in a few months but only to buy the full software when it comes on sale. For now, paying for it on a subscription basis is totally worth it.Rating so far:5\/5 - did not disappoint.I'm a dev myself so i know how software development works. Asking\/suggesting for additional or missing features right now with my hours rendered would be an insult. Will update my rating in time when i get my Articy:draft-fu level a little bit higher.P.S.I think there's a problem with my steam hours here. I know I've rendered at least 5 hours here already, it says I've only used it for 2.9 hours at the time of this writing. Still great software.. Very good tool. Best of it's kind.. Foreword: I am writing this review of 2 SE for those PAST my level, who know coding and designing games. --For those new to game development--, I wanted to give this a THUMBS DOWN , but since theres no middle rating and I want to be fair to the developers I'll have to include this note here.Pros:+ quick interface+ great for getting an idea how to organize your project if youre mainly a coder+ good for writers+ good for artists+ good for project managementCons:- subscription model is WAY too pricy for those starting out- wish it had better tutorials- the price...Summary:This is a great program for those who need help plotting a story, organizing entities, and in general for those who know how to program and would like a design document 'CMS of sorts'. Love how fast the interface responds, something crucial in any design program. I wouldn't recommend it for those starting out as it's basically a fancy file organizer. But those already with an established project could benefit greatly. There is a one time purchase, which seemed to be the original purchase method, but it takes some fumbling with their website to find, something like $60 for one time payment. Eitherway this is a program I expect to be coming back to, as they just released V3.My suggestion:make one license a $20 ~ $25 purchaseeach additional user (on a project) would be a commercial license subscription $5~$6put up a simple project lesson example on youtube (a free one would be great exposure). For indie\/small teams it's good enough if you are lone writer. Multi\/User support is a bit pricy. It supports importing text from Articy Draft, it can export to number of formats including cvs file that can be imported into Unity's Dialogue System plugin. Makes a great combo for that. There is also native Unity Support option. You can write dialogue trees, test them in simulation. You can add variables and simple logic, easy to use stuff. You can create entities, which is generic term for any kind of stuff that might need data tied into it. You can assign custom fields and variables to entities and thus create from them NPC, Items, Spell, Powers etc. There is simple document writing tool, that lets you write and format dialogues similar to profesional script tools like Articy Draft, Celtx etc. If you like to get started on story and dialogues in more traditional format this is good thing to have. You can then transform this into regular dialogue node with simple drag and drop. But working on actual dialogue tree this way is messy. You can create locations and plan level design as well, but I didn't find this workflow particularly productive. Might work for others or different kind of projects. Overall this software still has the ways to go to become "ultimate game developer tool" but theres been good progress so far. There is also a free 14 day full feature demo on developers website for testing.. As a first-time indie developer, I have to say that articy is very useful in keeping all my ideas well-formatted. Since I am a one person team, there are many aspects of my game that I want down as concepts that I can work on as I get to them, and articy does not disapoint with allowing me to lay these out in an easy to find manner. I would also say for those who have a team it is quite useful as they allow hosting (and you can host through them) so you'd be able to have an updated game plan document for all team members at any time. Definitely worth the flex license, you can even just get a month to try it, and then upgrade to a full year or just buy the software should you feel like it. There is also a very comprehensive tutorial on every section of the program, (although I turned it off as I found it distracting) which is certainly useful for those new to a pre-development enviroment. Overall I'd give it a 8\/10-9\/10, just as the UI can be a bit odd to get used to, but there's nothing else to complain about from my end.. New multi-user client licensing cost is 5x the single user cost per person. Aproximately $90US a month for 2 seats. Completely alienating small groups and\/or studios.Honestly the software isn't all that great either. It's a glorified file share that lets you type word documents in an organized tree structure and reference objects. The dialogue choice system isn't ready for dialogue heavy titles, only small scenes. They sell a seperate product ( of course ) that allows API access to that system for use in your applications directly. For the price they're asking you can buy multiple copies of better stand alone tools that do the same thing, and host your files on SVN. Even something like Perforce: Helix Cloud, is less expensive and better featured.
